Jacqueline Gibson, Ed.D.

Dr. Jacqueline Gibson began her 27-year career in Higher Education teaching English, Speech, and Communication courses at Morris Brown College and Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. After a few years of teaching, Dr. Gibson’s passion for a deeper sense of engagement with students led her to the field of Student Affairs. As such, she began her service in Student Affairs as Director in several roles in student success, student conduct/judicial affairs, and campus life at various institutions. In 2013, she moved into middle management serving at Kentucky State University as Assistant Vice President of Engagement and Leadership Development.

After a year at Kentucky State University, Dr. Gibson took her first senior leadership role as Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at her Alma Mater, Mississippi Valley State University from 2013-2020. In August 2020, she joined Southern University & A&M College in Baton Rouge as Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Management and Student Success. In January of this year, she returned to Mississippi Valley State University where she has resumed the role of Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. As a first-generation college student and a well-rounded professional with experience in student success, student affairs, and enrollment management, Dr. Gibson is passionate about the education of students who are the first in their families to attend college.

Dr. Gibson’s professional association memberships include the National Council of Negro Women, the Southern Association for College Student Affairs, ACE Women’s Network and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (where she was recognized in the NASPA Phenomenal Friday edition as Phenomenal Woman Administrator in 2019). Dr. Gibson holds a B.A. in English from Mississippi Valley State University and has earned an M.A. in Organizational Communication and  Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Akron.
