Nelson Chisholm is a Cyber Crime Investigator with the MS Attorney General’s Office. His Law Enforcement career began at the Madison Police Department in 2018. While at MPD, he served as a Patrolman for one year before he was promoted to Officer in Charge. He served in this role for two years before being promoted to a Criminal Investigator. While as an Investigator, Nelson specialized in white collar crime and complex financial investigations and continuously led the division in arrest and cases closed.

In 2024, Nelson began working with the MS Attorney General’s Office Cyber Crime Division. He is currently assigned to the Cyber Fraud Task Force and is a sworn United States Secret Service Task Force Officer. Nelson investigates financial fraud including business email compromises, crypto scams, ACH Fraud, and Wire Fraud.

While handling his investigative work, Nelson also conducts digital forensics on mobile devices and analyzes Call Detail Records for agencies across the State of Mississippi.

He holds several certifications including:

  • Cellebrite Certified Operator
  • Cellebrite Certified Physical Analyzer
  • Digital Currency Tracing from the National Computer Forensics Institute (NCFI) in Hoover, AL.
  • Call Detail Records Analysis from the NCFI in Hoover, AL

Nelson has worked numerous cases with significant community impact and has been responsible for the recovery of over 4 million dollars in the years 2024 – 2025.
